On Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 dancers all over world participated in the Guiness World Record attempt for the
most people pole dancing at the same time. The participants performed a choreographed routine by Katie Coates,
from Vertical Dance in the U.K. The routine was performed to the same music around the world for 10 minutes at
10:00am CST. The goal was to break last year's record, raise money for charity, and raise awareness of the benefits
of pole dancing. This year our goal was to raise $20,000 for children's charities around the world. Donations in the
U.S. were made to the March Of Dimes. Mary Ellyn Weissman, from Empowerment Through Exotic Dance, organized
the event for the Chicagoland area. There were 20 women and one gentleman to participate in the event which was
held at the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago. The event was a success and we will know in a few months how many
participants actually qualified for the world record. Thanks for everyone that donated and participated for Pole

Last year, on Sunday, September 10, 2006, the Vertical Dance Team set a world record when over 300 people
participated in our first event. We successfully set the record with 206 dancers qualifying from 26 different
countries. Through donations raised by the dancers, we raised over $13,000 world-wide for the benefit of
cancer research. Mary Ellyn Weissman organized a group of 8 women in the Chicagoland area for the event.
